Manchester’s National Cycling Centre played host to the opening rounds of the 2022 National BMX Series at the weekend, with Writhlington students Harri and Fin Collis travelling north to compete in the competition.
Harri was in great form on Saturday, posting the fastest lap of the day and only dropping one lap during the entire round, finishing third. Fin suffered a crash during his race, fortunately walking away unscathed, finishing eleventh over all.
Round two took place on Sunday during which Fin advanced to the quarter finals, though luck was not on his side and was knocked out of the round despite a strong performance. Harri was moments away from clinching second place during the final of round two before sustaining a big crash. Thankfully there were no serious injuries despite feeling quite stiff the next day!
Harri soon flies to Verona, Italy for the first two rounds of the 2022 UEC BMX European Cup hosted at the BMX Olympic Arena.
Additionally, Harri has been selected as a core rider for the National Schools of Racing’s (NSR) Olympic development programme. The programme aims to nurture talent and ultimately supports progress into the Olympic Great Britain Cycling Team programmes.
