Writhlington Y7 boys travelled to Street for their first football match of the year. The team played a 3-4-1 formation and used the space on the pitch really well. Writhlington dominated the match and created numerous chances hitting the post on three occasions in the first half. The breakthrough came just before halftime with captain Sam poking in from 5 yards after a scramble from a corner.

The second half was played in exactly the same manner with Writhlington creating chances. The game was killed off in the second half after good work by Josh on the right, he beat his man and passed across the box to George who fired into the top corner from 10 yards.

This was an excellent display from Y7 and the score definitely did not flatter them. There was quality all over the pitch and the squad can look forward to further fixtures with confidence.

Player of the match – Jacob for controlling the midfield area and allowing others to get forward.

We await to see who we will play in the next round!
