Year 9 students from Writhlington were invited to attend a day at the University of Bath to explore the possibilities available to embrace Modern Foreign Languages. They met with young people from other local schools, and found out more about the importance of learning a language, careers with languages and life at university in general.
Students were given a tour of the University Campus, showcasing all the amazing facilities available, they were then able to interview current students and took part in two taster sessions in Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian or German before finishing the day receiving certificates and goody bags.
Executive Head Teacher Mark Everett commented:
“Opportunities like these really open doors for our students, they get first hand experience of the amazing courses open to them post Sixth Form. Our students are able to make informed decisions about their futures, knowing they have links to top universities and apprenticeship opportunities”.
