Match Report by Captain William Lacey
It was a wet windy day, challenging conditions for any team but we travelled to Beechen Cliff to compete in the Schools Cup competition.
We have another great team this year and as we journeyed over to Beechen Cliff we reflected on where we were this time last year. We finished 2-2 tied after an exhausting match, but this year we were really gunning to take the win.
The team took to the pitch raring to go, demonstrating some excellent passing and dodging some clever interceptions from the Beechen Cliff team. A couple of ill thought-out moves later and Beechen Cliff were awarded a Penalty which gave them a 1-0 lead with just 15 minutes to go of the first half.
A great challenge from Harry Matthews and some clever footwork landed us an equalizer 1-1. Beechen cliff kicked off the second half it was very tense but some outstanding defence and amazing goalkeeper save sealed the game. Writhlington were through to the next round
