Seven Cadets from Writhlington School CCF attended the Colonel’s Review of Trooping the Colour at Horse Guards Parade in London.
Report by Year 12 student, Cpl Rebecca Pink:
“We started the day at 0500hrs travelling from school in a minibus to Morden, where we caught the tube on the Northern Line to Charing Cross. After 30 minutes on the tube we headed along the Mall to the Horse Guards Parade. There were very big crowds and a really exciting atmosphere. The Parade lasted almost two hours – we were all completely in awe, it was really inspiring to see and made us value even more, the parading we perform during our sessions on Wednesdays.
Following the Parade, we went to a restaurant in Trafalgar Square for lunch where we discussed the amazing morning. Our last stop before our journey home was the Imperial War Museum. We struggled to get round all the exhibitions in two hours as they were so interesting. Luckily Lt Marshall allowed us some extra time so that we didn’t miss out.
It was an exhausting day but worth every second. I am so glad I had the opportunity to travel to London and see this spectacular Parade.”
