CCF Top in the District

Cadets from Writhlington Combined Cadet Force took part in this year’s Somerset Inter-Services Cadet Competition 2016.

Writhlington CCF competed against 11 other teams from across Somerset including Army Cadet Force, Air Training Corps, Sea Cadet Corps and Royal Marine Cadets. The teams took part in a variety of competitions including Archery, Shooting, Fieldcraft and Micro Navigation.

The Writhlington CCF team comprising of Sjt Charlotte Mason, Sjt Charlotte Holmes, Cpl Williams Holmes and Cpl Owen Bazeley competed for the first time against some of the top groups in the county to claim third place.

Sjt Mason commented:

‘It was a great day and I was really pleased with our team’s efforts and placing.’

Staff Instructor Danielle Taylor, Platoon commander of Midsomer Norton Platoon ACF has been assisting Writhlington CCF for number of years entered her own team and took first place. Congratulations to Cpl Templar, Cpl Morris, Cpl Yarlett and Cpl Bridges.

Accompanied by Capt Harwood and Lt Marshall they commented:

‘I hope our entry as the only CCF team in the competition will encourage other CCF units to enter in future years.’
