Students begin China Exchange Programme

November 1st, 2015 | School News Sixth Form

During October half term, three students from Writhlington went on a tour of China, visiting Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai and Suzhou. Highlights of the trip included visiting The Great Wall and taking an overnight sleeper train to see the incredible Terracotta Warriors.

The annual trip forms part of our China exchange programme. Thirty one students from five schools in the Bath partnership attended the trip, forming excellent friendships which will last well beyond our return to school.

Whilst away, Writhlington students taught two lessons in a Chinese school, took part in an international conference, competing against Chinese students and had a homestay, spending a night with a Chinese family.

Other enjoyable activities included a rickshaw ride, tobogganing down from The Great Wall, a cycle ride around the city wall in Xi’an and taking a boat ride in Shanghai for a striking view of the city skyline at night.

If you will be in Year 10 or above next October and you are interested in taking part in this trip, contact Mrs Flagg or Miss Jones for details. There will be an assembly with more details about the trip in the next few weeks.
