Members of Writhlington School’s Combined Cadet Force took part in a weekend training course to complete the Young First Aid course and the Advanced First Aid Course.

An integral part of training for the Combined Cadet Force, students are offered First Aid courses aimed to give students the skills to address any minor injuries while training with the CCF.

These transferable skills have proven most useful for cadets in the past including former student Aaron Griffiths, who was given an Award after attending a roadside collision and administering first aid.

Aaron Said,

“My Cadet training kicked in straight away. I knew I had to make sure there was no further risk of danger from the cars and to assess the injuries of the passengers. After calling for an ambulance I attended to passengers with head injuries, assuring they were comfortable and not at further risk”.

Junior Cadets will have the opportunity to further their skills and knowledge and attend the Advanced First Aid Course in the future.
