Welcome To Sixth Form
We would like to extend to you a very warm welcome to the Writhlington and Mendip Studio School Sixth Form.
Our vibrant and successful Sixth Form provides high quality academic and vocational courses and opportunities for over 300 students. We have a broad curriculum supported by excellent teaching and very strong pastoral support for students. Our curriculum covers a wide range of A Levels and applied subjects and we are confident that we meet the needs and aspirations of all our students.
All Dragonfly Sixth Form students can have access to industry mentors and supporters from organisations including The James Dyson Foundation, Royal Botanical Gardens Kew, Cambridge University, The Eden Project and Advetec.
All Year 13 students will have the opportunity to undertake an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) with the value and weighting of an AS Level. Personal research supported by experts and Southampton University.
"an excellent way of developing important study skills that are highly prized by employers and universities.” (Higher Education Admissions)
We believe that our staff and facilities give all young people an opportunity to learn, develop and mature, so that they are confident to fulfil their full potential and achieve their dreams.
In addition to our academic curriculum we have an extensive enrichment offer which provides all students with an opportunity to develop their interests and talents. We have fantastic sports facilities and sports teams, numerous choirs, bands and the Duke of Edinburgh scheme which culminates with the Sixth Form students taking the Gold Award. There is an annual school drama production where Sixth Form students play a major role both on and off stage.
Our Sixth Form has two sporting programmes - Tennis and Cricket - which are supported by the Lawn Tennis Association and Bath Cricket Club. These Programmes are a platform for students to receive top quality coaching and support outside the school day which can lead to coaching and volunteering opportunities as well as playing these sports at a high level.
We encourage our students to help and support our school community. We have a Head Girl and Head Boy plus a Senior Prefect Team who contribute to all facets of school life. Our links with National Citizenship Service also ensures the opportunity to support the local community with volunteering projects.
We look forward to meeting you to discuss your aspirations and how our experienced team of teaching and support staff can work with you to fulfil your potential.
