Admissions - Year 6 to Year 7
Your application for a place at secondary school must be made to the Local Authority in which you live. You will receive a letter from the Local Authority containing your child’s UID (Unique Identification number). The UID number can then be used to make an application on line. Alternatively you can submit a paper application which can be downloaded from the Local Authority’s website. You are able to apply up to 31 October 2015. If you live in Somerset you must apply to Somerset Local Authority even though Writhlington School is in Bath and North East Somerset. Both local authorities have full information on how to apply on their websites.
To help you make up your mind about which secondary school is best for your child, we hold an Open Evening in September for prospective parents to meet our staff and students and to look around the school. After this has taken place, we also hold a series of Open Mornings all timed to take place before your application needs to be submitted. The dates of these events will be advertised on the school website.
Admissions – Other Years
We are currently oversubscribed in all year groups and so may not be able to offer your child a place at Writhlington. However, you are welcome to make an In-Year Application to us and it will be considered.
If your application is unsuccessful, you will be given the opportunity to appeal against the decision and also to remain on our waiting list should a place become available.
If you would like a tour of the school before making an In-Year Application, please contact Sue Lock, PA to the Senior Leadership Team , who will be able to arrange an appointment for you.
